What if the love you’ve been looking for has been looking for you your whole life?

John 3:16 is the most famous Bible verse of all time.
If you’ve grown up in church, you know it.
Probably by heart.

Even if you don’t know what it says, you’ve seen that reference.
Fans flash it on signs during sporting events; athletes write it on their sneakers.
But it has nothing to do with sports.

It has everything to do with love.

It begins… “God loved the world so much…”

It’s the key sentence within the Apostle John’s book about Jesus, certainly.
But truly, it’s the key sentence in the whole Bible.
It’s the whole message, in less than 25 words.

It’s been called, the key which unlocks the mystery of God.
It’s been said, if you know nothing else about God, know this.

It’s a vivid picture of God’s relentless love for people.

But… is it really any more than just another good love story?

What can this two-thousand-year-old promise say to our world today, so filled with hate?
What chance does love have within a world firmly ruled by power?

And in what way does this cosmic love story matter to your real life story?
How can it help you find the love you’re looking for?
How can it help you to give the love that others need?

Throughout this series, we look at this John 3:16 love story – and two stories that the author wraps around it, each a collision of love and power – in order to discover what difference God’s love truly makes – for you, and for us.
